ART COMPETITION, EXHIBITION & SALE

16TH ANNUAL JURIED SHOW

Who and What Qualifies to Enter?

COMPETITION RULES

This juried competition for "representational art" seeks work that celebrates the beauty of the Province of Ontario.  Images depicting marine themes, landscapes, architectural, figurative, historical or regional flora and fauna are all encouraged to compete for cash awards and other prizes.

This is an open competition.  All artists are eligible to enter provided they meet the rules.  To conform with the spirit of the awards, all work must be original.  No copies from other artists or from published material will be allowed.  No supervised work will be allowed.

Work accepted must be suitably framed (unless work is designed to hang unframed) and wired for  hanging.   A completed Official Exhibit Label must be attached to the back of each piece entered.  Copies of exhibit  labels are acceptable.  All work must be "representational".  But, this is not just a "photo-realism" competition, so don't be deterred from publishing the creative envelope with your personal interpretations.  Work can be oil, watercolour, acrylic, pencil, charcoal, pastel, mixed media or other acceptable media.  No sculpture, photography, computer art or textile art.  Image area must not exceed 36" x 48".  No repeat entries.

ALL WORK MUST BE FOR SALE.

JURYING FROM ORIGINAL WORK

All hand-delivered work must be delivered to the Lambton County Heritage Museum accompanied by completed entry form and exhibit label along cash, cheque or money order covering entry fees.  Cheques and money orders are payable to Paint the Huron Shores.  Lambton Heritage Museum is located at 10035  Museum Road on Hwy. #21, across from Pinery Provincial Park.  Work will be accepted after February 1, 2012 and any weekday between the hours of 10 a.m. and 5 p.m.  Museum hours expand in March to 10 a.m. to 5 p.m., seven days a week.  All entries must arrive by February 24, 2012 for jurying.

If shipping artwork, please ship crated to Lambton Heritage Museum, 10035 Museum Road, R.R. #2,  Grand Bend, ON N0M 1T0.  All entries must arrive by February 24, 2012.  Artist is required to pay cost of shipping both ways.  We recommend artists carry their own insurance when shipping.

JURYING FROM SLIDES & PHOTOS

Professional quality photographic prints of art are acceptable.

Only 35mm slides of DVD accepted.  No glass mounted slides.  Each slide of photo must be clearly marked with the artist's name, title of work, medium and dimensions.  Professional quality slides and photos are recommended.  The top, left and right should be marked.  Only properly marked slides and photos, together with fully completed Official Entry Forms (you may use copies for multiple entries) will be accepted.  Slides should simply be placed in an unsealed plastic slide sleeve and attached to the Official Entry Form.  For protection, simply fold a cardboard stiffener around slides and entry form.

Entry fee in the form of cheque or money order payable to Paint the Huron Shores must accompany entries.  See back of brochure for schedule and dates.

FEES AND COMMISSION

The entry fee is $20 for the first work entered and $10 for each additional entry.  Artists may enter an unlimited number of entries, but only a maximum of 4 pieces by any one artist will be juried in to the show.  Cash, cheque or money order made payable to Paint the Huron Shores must accompany all entries.  Entry fees are non-refundable.

A sales commission of 35% is payable to Paint The Huron Shores.  Please price your work accordingly.

Paint the Huron Shores/Paint Ontario and Lambton Heritage Museum shall not be responsible for loss or damage to any artwork, no matter what the cause.  By submitting artwork to this exhibition, each artist shall be deemed to have agreed to this agreement.

Signing the Entry Form will be taken as permission to publish the image for advertising and promotional purposes for Paint the Huron Shores/Paint Ontario.

Submission of entries in this competition automatically constitutes the entrant's acceptance of all competition rules.  The judges' decision will be final and no correspondence will be entered into.  Winners will be notified and announced at the opening ceremonies.

Many visitors to the show ask for more information on the artists whose work they are admiring.  This can lead to sales after the show ends.  Please take the time to type up a quick biography on 8.5" x 11" paper and bring or send it with your work.  It will be included in a master book made available to interested patrons.
